What is the Armstrong chart?

An 8-color urine color chart developed by Lawrence Armstrong for rapid hydration assessment. We use a simplified 6-color version with the same clinical logic.

Does the chart always work?

Mostly. Some supplements (B-vitamins cause bright yellow), foods (beets cause red, asparagus green) and medications can change color unrelated to hydration.

What if my urine is cloudy or smells?

Cloudiness or strong odor can indicate UTI, kidney stones or dietary causes. If persistent, see a doctor — color chart is only for hydration.

How pale is too pale?

Very pale (almost water-clear) urine usually means you're well hydrated or even over-hydrated. Slightly yellow is ideal.
