What's the difference between encodeURIComponent and encodeURI?

encodeURIComponent escapes everything that isn't a letter, digit or basic symbol — use it for query parameter values. encodeURI keeps URL structural characters like :/?#&= so the result is still a valid URL.

Why does decoding fail with %ZZ?

% must be followed by two hex digits. Malformed sequences throw a URIError — the tool shows the message and clears the output.

Does it handle + as space?

Yes — when decoding, + is converted to %20 first so form-encoded data decodes correctly.

Is my URL sent anywhere?
