Will this open a PDF that asks for a password to view?

No. If a PDF requires a password just to open, you must provide that password first — this tool cannot brute-force it. It only removes owner-password permission restrictions (print/copy/edit blocks).

pdf-lib loads the PDF with `ignoreEncryption: true`, then re-saves it into a fresh PDF without the restriction dictionary. The result is a clean, unrestricted file.

Only unlock PDFs you own or are authorized to modify. Removing restrictions on copyrighted material you don't have rights to may violate the DMCA or local laws.

Does it preserve the content?

Yes — page content, images, fonts and metadata are preserved. Only the permission flags are removed.

Are my files uploaded?
