How does Google truncate titles?

Google caps titles at roughly 600px on desktop. Beyond that, an ellipsis is added. Our tool estimates pixel width at ~10px per character (Arial-based) and flags when you exceed 600px.

What's the description limit?

Google shows about 960px of description (~160 characters). Anything longer is cut with an ellipsis. We flag at 960px and warn up to 1200px.

Why does Google sometimes rewrite my title?

Google may override your title tag if it's too long, stuffed with keywords, or doesn't match the page's content. Keep titles descriptive, under 60 chars and aligned with what users will see.

Are the pixel widths exact?

They're estimates based on average character widths. Actual rendering varies by browser, font and character mix (wide letters like W vs narrow like i). Treat them as a guide, not a hard limit.
